Got a little experiment of my own. Will try to see if I can run sub 18/5k 37:30/10k 1:25/half on 4 runs a week. If i can run sub 1:25 in the half, that will earn me a top 20 in the age group 45-49 in national championship. I will be really happy if I can achieve that on 4 runs a week. Didn't run at all for 4 weeks in summer due to a vacation in Sri Lanka, so startet with bad shape in august.
Last week I ran a half marathon in 1:30:45, so the training has worked ok.
Training since august has looked like this
Monday : long reps on road, LT
Tuesday: rest
Wednesday : rest
Thursday : short intervals, vo2 max
Friday: 12 km easy run with 6xstrides and 5xshort hill sprint
Saturday : 18 km, first 13 easy, 5 km around or a little slower than LT pace
Around 50 km a week.
Me: Male. 45 been running for 5 years, the last 2 years in a club
