Hi, sorry for the spammy post. I just don't know many runners so I thought I'd try my luck here.
I'm a journalist and grad student working on a story about the NYC marathon. My school is putting on a whole series about the topic.
I want to talk to people about their experiences trying to get into the marathon.
If you fit into any of these categories, either reply or email me, and I'll be in touch!
NON-GUARANTEED ONLY (LOTTERY)
1. NYC metro area applicants: you applied, but you didn't get chosen (any year)
2. NYC metro area runners: you applied and you got chosen (2016-2017)
3. International applicants: you applied, but you didn't get chosen (any year)
4. International runners: you applied and you got chosen (2016-2017)
5. National applicants: you applied, but you didn't get chosen (any year)
6. National runners: you applied and you got chosen (2016-2017)
7. You ran the race before (through any means), applied for the lottery this year, but didn't get chosen
OR
GUARANTEED ENTRIES
1. You ran the marathon 15 times.
2. You are a "seasoned veteran."
3. You were denied entry three times previously.
If you are a time-qualifier, running with a charity or the 9+1 program, that's fantastic, but it's outside the scope of my topic. If you really want to talk to me, e-mail me and I'll put you in contact with one of my classmates.
