Physical Stats - 34, 6'1, 213lbs.
Current capabilities (all treadmill) - 2 mile @ 6mph and 3x 400m@10mph / 200m@3.5mph
I need to be able to run 1.5 miles in 12:00 or less in approximately 2-3 months.
I have surprised myself with how quickly I progressed from where I started a little over a month ago but know that I need to have a planned approach if I want to be successful. Right now my being able to breath is the wall I hit. In only 2 miles my legs aren't getting tired at the 6mph pace and I figure I can push through fatigue at such a short distance, I mainly just need to get my lungs/heart in better shape.
My approach to this point has been:
Run 2 miles while trying to increase the MPH, but I want to maintain the pace for the full 2 miles instead of run/walk.
Reduce the walking time on the 400m and then add to sets that I do this exercise.
My, uneducated, go forward plan looks something like:
Mon - 2 miles at sustained pace
Tue - 400m
Wed - 6% incline @ 3.8mph for 2 miles and 1000 stairs (increasing stairs and incline each week)
Thur - 2 miles at sustained pace
Fri - 400m
My weight should be about 190lbs for the actual PFT so I figure that will help in reaching the goal as well. Am I totally off on the approach? Is the goat completely unrealistic for where I'm currently at? Thanks in advance for any pointers.
