As mentioned on the front page, "Sixteen “power programs†will compete in a 2-hour, televised relay-only meet with team scoring. Events tentatively include a 4 x 100, 4 x 200, 4 x 400, 4 x 800 and DMR."
Love the idea and format, but bummed it's going straight against Penn that weekend - programs like Arkansas, Michigan, Tennessee, and others who've committed to this meet have a special place at Penn. Their names will be missed from the announcer's "roll call".
Understand not wanting to have too many separate relay meets (people need NCAA qualifying marks), but can't help but feel this will drive further dilution of the historic April relay meets.
Separately, for even more TV value, would be cool if they did this meet on another weekend, and basically made it a Power Conference team scored meet, where conferences compete as teams with athletes from different schools. Could even see this doing well post NCAA.
