Is it legal for the people in the lead/ pace vehicle to coach competitors from the vehicle during a race.
I saw that at a weekend meet and thought that it was at least not good form and potentially worthy of a DQ.

Am I correct in assuming it was coaches from school hosting the meet coaching from the pace vehicle?
Regardless, not sure there's really a rule against it, or bad form. I've never really thought a coach can do much to influence the result during a race anyways, so doesn't seem like a big deal to me.
A lead vehicle would be really heavy. Plus it would be soft, so hard bumps would damage it.

There's nothing in the NCAA rules that prohibit this explicitly other than providing aid to athletes or interfering with the competition. It's up to a coach at another school to know the rules and complain.
