Despite all the social media frenzy being created, the 5k fields are actually surprisingly soft. The entrants in no way met the initial stated entry standards or expectations for the event.

There will be some decent battles, but not what I was hoping to see in terms of depth on either side given the money NYRR has put up.

Who could they put in that isn't already in?? They brought in a vast majority of the talent from the US. Not much more you can hope for other than they are all fit and ready

Hahahahaha!!!! Are you insane? Who are they missing? Hill? Cheserek? Rupp, chelanga, and sambu are fresh off Chicago. I'm hoping you meant the women's field.

Those are my top 3 picks anyways, although I'm cheering for Mead; True and Chelimo have to be the top 2 seeds tho. I'm surprised Centro is running this, not really his distance but I assume he must be back healthy and training again?

Cheserek isn't a U.S. citizen yet -- and as you said, Rupp, Chelenga, and Sambu are marathoners now. So that just leaves Hill on your list. All things considered this is a very good field.
