On the other end of the stick, looking ripped and not fading in the late stages of a hot marathon is not an ADMISSION of guilt. But these things do need to be discussed, because they're abnormal.

He publicly promotes himself, it's not sad if attracts a bit of attention...especially if he's guilty. He's already out there. Hurting someone's feelings is not a good reason to ignore cheating, corruption, or whatever other kind of immoral bs is going on in the world. All of your arguments are poorly thought out.

I've met this guy a couple of times at races and have a local runner that I see often who is very close with this guy. None of that gives me any insight into whether the guy is clean or not. But to anonymously and publicly point fingers at a guy with no real evidence of doping, and to specifically identify him, seems like really poor form.

OP claims that he was just asking the question, but the implication is there, and OP either knows that or should know that.

Also, the guy may have a fairly high social media profile, but that doesn't mean it is open season.

I think a fairly good rule of thumb should be that if you want to call someone out, and you really don't have any good evidence but feel that their social media presence justifies it, you should really identify yourself when doing so. Open yourself up to the same scrutiny that you are subjecting others to. I mean, after all, you are here starting discussions about PED use on a very popular running forum; doesn't that mean you are fair game too?

Again, I have no idea what this guy is doing or not doing; but if you are going to start threads like this, you should be willing to put your name out there too.

I have been around for a while and if you want to know who I am beyond these boards, there is plenty of information from my posts that will allow you to do that. I am pretty far from anonymous on these boards.

And while I have had the finger pointed at me once by someone who was obviously a troll, it isn't an issue of sensitivity, it is an issue of basic fairness. So have at it, look me up and you will see that I have nothing to hide.

So while I really don't see how I pointed the finger at anyone, I certainly didn't do so anonymously; at least not for regular readers of the training forum threads.

Dude isn't that big and 2:39 isn't that fast. I ran faster than that at 180 lbs, 6'2". My dad ran faster than that in 1972 two years after college and only 2 months of running between graduation and the marathon two years later, he was 6'3" and 175 lbs at the time. I'm positive a 5'10" 185 lbs guy who trained can accomplish 2:39 without drugs like this guy obviously has.

To ask the question is to imply suspicion. It's totally uncalled for to imply this guys is on PEDS based on the size of his arms or that he passed people towards the end of the race as another poster complained "he didn't look at tired as the other guys passing me". LOL, get over it. You got passed.

Likewise, I train with a beefed up dude who's just started rapidly bumping up his mileage. He never takes down weeks, and he never gets tired. I'm a little suspicious because I know what those kind of miles and intensity feels like, months on end. It's not just a constant flame that you can keep on burning.

The thing is, performance enhancing drugs enable you to work hard without the usual signs of fatigue creeping in. If anything, if you can work your azz off for any longer than most advanced masters runners can, chances are high that you're on something. Because it's not normal to not experience rollercoasters in gruelling training periods.

Just to clarify my point, as it clearly irked some people.

-Personally, I think any clean athlete being accused of doping should take that as the highest compliment. I hope he's clean, and I hope he sees this thread and gets a huge kick out of it. I know I would if I were on the receiving end

-Plenty of people have passed me in the final miles of multiple marathons, and hundreds more have beat me. I bet less than 1% are on drugs, I'm an old hobby jogger so I don't have any delusion that anyone beating me is cheating.

-Personally, I felt the lack of fatigue late in Boston was more of an outlier than his physique, I literally have never seen anyone look that smooth at the end of a marathon in our time range, let alone at a sufferfest like Boston 2017 was

-Abnormal performances are what drive people to be suspicious of doping in the absence of other evidence. Whether it's Eddy Hellebuyck, Christian Hesch or Mo Trafeh, abnormal performances were the likely first red flag. And Cutter's performance looked incredibly abnormal both from a physique and fatigue stand point.
