What ways has this negatively affect my body. Of course I'm a lot fitter but can this cause me problems? So far no injuries luckily. I was doing 10 miles a day at a steady 130-140 bpm

More info please. What changes have you noticed?

I can run for longer of course. And farther. But I'm more worried about what negative effects it can have in my heart.

It's fried your brain or at least the bit that does arithmetic.

If you knew basic arithmetic, you'd have figured out I run 5 days a week. Moran.
How do you handle hills? Let your HR go above 140 while climbing or slow way down/walk if necessary to stay below 140? I see threads like this and never know if people mean average 130-140, or keep it locked into that range and never go above

I doubt it would have any negative effect. If you did 10 miles a day with a 130-140 bpm you could definitely handle it with the two days off a week. Great job!!!
Could you please answer these?
What kind of pace were you running when you started?
What was your pace at the end of the year?
How did the temperature effect your pace?
How did weather effect your pace?
Thanks

Your heart will have shrunk to only 70% of its normal size.
I am not following this at all. Sounds like you stayed in your aerobic range, albeit maybe at the higher end depending on your age. Why would this be expected to cause any problems or injuries?

Why would he do it in the first place and then worry about it?
Because he's a loony.

I'm experiencing some chest pain, sharp shooting pain on my left side, like an electric shock. My doctor has said since the pain subsided in 5-10 secs its nothing to worry about. Had an ECG done, dont know the results yet.

I know it was 9 min mile 3:00 800 and around 70 100. Dont know 5k and 10k but im assuming around 21:xx and 48:xx? Very slow and burnt out at the end of the 400 and 800 so i decided to up my stamina.
I am with Smoove, as I am still not following this. Be careful in regard to heart rates, as they depend not only upon your age, but on your body type, overall size, and other factors. I can probably hit 130-140 by walking fast, and 160 is fairly easy for me. Never had my max HR tested, but I gather it must be 190+...and I am an old guy (48). So, be careful in drawing conclusions based upon HR alone, or the general population's view of what is a high or low HR.
If you're experiencing heart pain, see a doctor. Or another doctor. It's called a "second opinion."
From what you describe, there's no reason to think that your running is the cause of your heart pain. There could be plenty of other causes.
Some say we haven't tapped into the full capacity of our brains.
I believe we only use 20% of our hearts.
think, you'll be ok...the only problem i can foresee is consistently getting your butt kicked by guys doing 80-100mpw w/ pace variety. have a great season!

Or even 15-20 mpw with pace variety?
I am 68 and have been doing about the same thing for over 3 decades now. In that time my 5k pace has gone from about 5:30s to about 6:30s, my vision has deteriorated, I seem to be developing a bit of arthritis in one knee, I have to get up more frequently at night to go to the bathroom, and my metabolism has slowed down. I know that if I was smart and just had been a couch potato all these years that I would still have the body of a 30 year old. If you keep doing this long enough it will make you old too.
An ECG result is available immediately. Perhaps you had a different test? Or, perhaps this is all made up?

I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
