Anyone have any idea why it seems to be radio silence on all of Mimi's online promotional platforms It seems like nothing of any substance (updates, photo of her, video) has been posted on any of her platforms since the 40 mile day.
Kinda odd

I've just looked and there's updates on her Twitter, her own Facebook and on the crews Twitter.
You sure you're looking? wrote:

Just saw the twitter - sorry you are right there but pretty much just a few photos of sunsets on her FB page since Friday
Just wondering why no videos of her/ folks running with her?

One reason could be that the crew has all hands full keeping Mimi on the road. I just looked at their resting times. While Sandy tries to keep her runs under 14 hours Mimi's now extended 4 times over 15 hours without high mileage and almost all of them were over 14 hours.
And 10 hours "rest" is nothing, especially in a camper van full of people. That might translate to 6 hours of sleep. And that is not much.
There is also the 10 year age difference between Sandy and Mimi which might make a huge difference in recovery time.
Plus the major knee surgery Mimi had a year ago.

Mimi is really slow, already in the mornings. That is not a good sign.
The bookmakers have to adjust there winning odds.

Marina did around 15 minute miles in her morning run yesterday also. I don't really have much hope to see video of her running at this point because it seems like she's mostly walking. Hopefully the documentary team will release footage of her doing 10-11 minute miles through the desert and up the mountains, but if we get anything those will probably just be short clips.
I actually don't know what a 15 minute mile looks like...it seems like it would be awkward, at least for me. Too fast to walk and too slow to jog. I guess a power walk? Is that efficient for a "run" of this length? Perhaps she doesn't have a choice.
I'm a woman and 15min mile is not a super brisk walk for me. In the 14s/13s would be a power walk.

Few women/men can walk at 15 min/mile without it exerting themselves. If you think you can actually walk at 15 min/mile as your "regular" walk go out and try doing that for more than 14 hours in a day, and do it again for a few more days, and report back.
Er, what? When I've had down times from running, I would walk with my Garmin, so I know what my pace is. And I'm not disputing the grind of 14 hours days, just responding to the question of what a 15min walk is like. But thanks for your useless contribution!

Would racewalking not be more efficient and cause less physical damage than running for a transcon? With racewalking, you always have a foot on the ground so there is less impact force.
I would think racewalking would bring its own host of problems if you haven't trained for it, it's definitely a different type of gait.

Looking at several of Mimi's breadcrumbs it looks like a barely 3 mph walk with some 4-5 mph short running spurts. Walk-run-walk-run .... all day long. A steady pace is much better, in my opinion.

Exactly. It feels unnatural to a runner, and even a person who only walks or hikes.

Are you tall? I'm short, 5' 8" so I don't think I can walk a 15 minute mile without looking like a freak and wasting a lot of energy. I might try to do it today and see which feels more natural at that speed, walking or running. I think my natural walking speed would be around 16:30 or so.
I'm 5'4 and have a naturally fast cadence.

That makes sense. She's probably alternating running around 13 and walking around 17, with all the starting and stopping it averages out to around 15 per mile but she's not actually holding that rate steady.
...btw, I didn't say 15 was leisurely, it's a fast walk but it's not a power walk.
