So on Monday I woke up with a pain right around the ball of my foot under the base of my big toe. It hadn't hurt during the run the previous day and it's possible I caused this while doing calf raises.
It hurts to shift my weight onto that part of the foot and sometimes when I raise up onto my toes. Te pain is sharp and shooting but it's a beyond what I would call sore. It doesn't hurt for the most part when I walk and not at all when I run. I have also noticed a little tightness on the arch.
My two worries are:
1) that whatever this is is fledgling and it's going to affect my running.
2) that I'm not feeling because I'm compensating without noticing and am going to cause injury somewhere else.
Based on the description any ideas as to what this is? I was thinking sesamoiditis is possible. Or something in the arch of my foot is pulling on that area and causing problems. I'm guessing stress fracture is unlikely because:
1) It didn't come on during the run
2) I don't feel it running
3) That's an uncommon place for them and I've never had one.
I know self diagnosing is iffy, but I don't want to go to the doc and waste my time and theirs, especially if it's not stopping me from running.
