Just had a couple questions regarding the Detroit marathon on October 15th. I know there have been issues in the pass with Olympic trial qualifiers running this race and hitting the standard only to realize the course is not sanctioned. My first question is will the race be sanctioned for this year's race? Seems like with all the complaints from that one female a few years back that they would take action and get it done. If it won't be this year what will it take to make it happen? Is it just a fee the race has to pay to get it done? If so how much does it cost? Seems odd that a race of this size wouldn't get the course sanctioned. Also, why are there no incentives for elite / sub elite runners? There's not even a waived entry fee. No elite starting coral, personal fluids...nothing. Is the race just anti elite / sub elite? Anyways, I was thinking about doing the race as a sub elite female but I'm starting to think it would be pointless. Thanks in advance if you can answer any of my questions.
