If you add up the splits that are reported by LRC in their analysis you get
3:56.6 ... Small difference, but a remarkable close. Must have been about 4:59 for the last 2K.

62.4 (2:06.1)
58.1 (3:04.2)

1:50.5 close in a 5000? That is ridiculous. No other comes close.
Yea... 5000 is still middle distance.
Mo closed in 1:49 in the world champs 5k in 2015.
Looking at some others to see if there are any faster last 800s. Obviously last 800m isn't the whole picture for all races as some didn't start going until 600m left and some may have been much faster overall. Still interesting. 1:49 is the fastest thus far

It's called EPO.
Lagat
last 700 something like 1:47 pace to win a title. And 3:57 final 1600 vs Solinsky
Right ... Looks like Mo was 2:19.2 for the last 1K in 2015, but it was a much slower race (13:50 winning time).

However the pace was slower, and they only ran hard the last two laps.
Caleb Ndiku set the pace with two laps to go, so Farah just followed him, the last lap was 52.6 and a final time was 13:50.38.
They made it a 400m speed race, knowing that Mo did have it in his legs, and to keep him out of contact by boxing him in.
That race reminded me of the 2004 olympic 5000m race, where that race was pretty much a 400m race, and Bekele just didn't have it in him to take on El G's kick.
