We love chelimo. We regular interview scott simmons for our previews, went to Uganda for world xc and praised the Kenyan born americans for racing there.
Chelimo winning a bronze - when he won silver last yaer - isn't the story. When a LEGEND loses his first global final in 6 years, that's the lead.
It's not even debatable.
Women's steeple? a) An American won gold b) An American also took silver. c) It was also a huge upset.
Honestly, it's the opposite of racism. We are one of the few sites that promote the greatness of African runners like Edris. Our readers are more intereted in americans but we will cover it no matter what.
Look, I believe that you aren't racist and you certainly aren't part of the alt-right like the poster earlier accused you (you're just run of the mill conservative: generally wrong on political beliefs, but mostly inoffensively so). But that doesn't make your reporting the "opposite of racist." It just isn't racist.
Also, don't use the word "honestly" like that.
I think you got it right to lead with a favorite being upset. Your site isn't strictly an American centered site, it is global.
