real talk - what's your deal Frodo? ever consider that an influx of poor people into a new country might cause some problems that are indeed certainly problems but also totally solvable, and certainly most solvable by an incredibly competent country such as germany?
is your suggestion that we should close ourselves off to people trying to escape poverty/famine/war? build walls to separate people? is that a lasting solution to the problem of "people" in general?
call me a snowflake.
Wow, not sure where to start with such a naive post.
I am all for helping genuine refugees, however the way this was managed was incompetent at best. Blame should not be squared solely at Merkel, but also those countries that could of helped more but did not, such as the Arab States.
Firstly if you aim to assimilate refugees and manage this without doing an injustice to your population that elected you then you do not invite infinite amounts and create a bigger pull for these people and non refugees to make treacherous journey. Since then of course Mekel has rowed back on her stance here, but the damage is done and you have a sudden surge of non-skilled people that cannot be integrated and will naturally turn to this type of activity to survive. Also note that vast majority of the people take in are young men.
The way this should have been treated is for Germany to have selected the most vulnerable from the refugee camps where they could have applied for the status. But not just Germany, but those countries that can. Merkel has done a large injustice to her population and and the German people are now seeing the ramifications. There will always be more poor people that want to settle in richer countries than can be coped with without destroying the country itself, that is just the way of the world.
