Title 9 is 45 years old. The thinking is that athletics are unfair to women unless there are the same number of opportunities/teams available to women as there are to men. Since there isn't a women's football team, colleges get rid of a men's running or swimming team for example.
The most impacted are men in low income sports who can't keep on competing in college.
Somehow our laws don't mandate that the College of Education (for example) must be a 50/50 make up of men/women as there must be a bias keeping men out of being a teacher and influencing other young men or it would be 50/50.
Back to sports.
If I were a young man today and the college only had a women's running team, swim team, etc. and I still wanted to keep training and competing, it would be tempting to gender identify as a girl to get the support, equipment and facilities to do what I like to do.
If I wanted to be a little more physical, field hockey, basketball, etc would be interesting too. In this who gives a hell what other people think society, why not? It can be your choice to later put in on your resume or not.
Title 9 fails at fairness at the individual level. Gender identity exceptions are quite amusing because there are no physical qualifications. So let's use gender identity to amuse ourselves while giving us equal access to college sports.
And if you are attracted to a female teammate, don't feel awkward, it's probably because you are identifying as a lesbian too. Go ahead and hit on her like a lesbian would.
