Have gone under 1.20 in a half marathon numerous times with a PR of 1.18. I have a marathon coming up and want to shoot for 2.49, and would otherwise be confident to do so if it wasn't for a poor half marathon performance recently where I could only muster a mid 1.22. This was however part of my marathon cycle where I didn't really taper and did a long run 7 days before. Legs just felt shot after 10k and I dropped of the pace.
Realistically, shoot I still shoot for sub 2.50 and ignore this half marathon especially given that my legs felt tired.
I'm a low mileage guy, 40-50 mile weeks on average (peak weeks were 68, 62, 55 but some very low weeks of 20-30) with long runs around 17-19 miles. Have done one 26 mile run as a 4.45 hour pacer which was useful for time on feet but not for pace obviously. Got my 1.18 half from 35-40 mile weeks.
Course is nice, fast and flat, even downhill in 2nd half which might help.
