Don't be tempted to move west of Westminster toward hwy 93-Arvada, Superior, etc thinking its closer to mountains. Traffic is horrible- there is a long studied beltway highway that has been stalled in this quadrant for 30 years. Driving in this area is terrible. There's also the issue of Rocky Flats. I'd certainly not live down wind of s Cold War era plutonium processing facility, no matter how safe the government and the real estate agent say it is.
I disagree with this. If you work in Westminster and live West (towards Boulder, Superior, and Louisville), you go against the commute traffic. I work right on the border of Broomfield and Westminster and live in Louisville. The traffic going into Boulder in the morning is horrible, but from Boulder to Westminster is very light. It's the opposite direction in the afternoons/evenings, so you get light traffic on your way home too.
If you live North, South, or East of Westminster, the traffic sucks.
That being said, housing prices West of Westminster are high. I could sell my house today, put $150-$200k in my pocket, and move about 20 minutes East and live in a comparable, or perhaps even nicer house.
