Kenyans wish they could get their hands on some of that dope. Then they could go sub 43
They are on average much taller and have thick lower calves which help them build thrust. They also have long torsos compared to the legs/arm which helps absorb air. Super high arches also help them run on their toes
Probably because they are so skinny on average, less weight to carry over long distances, they (along with Ethiopians) dominate 5000 to Marathon.
My guess is they have obesity rates even lower than Americans, which means a higher percentage of people who have the body type (Ectomorph/Skinny) to excel in distance running.
Have to have that body type WITHOUT being Anorexic or Bulemic which means less energy and more likely to get injured. Anorexics and Bulemic people can sometimes do well for a few years, but they always get injured and have other lifetime problems so not worth it.
Wrong question.
Correct question: why are you slow ?

Hahahaha. Kenyans wishing they could get the dope? That's like saying Armstrong wished he doped so that he could win a few more TdFs.
For the same reason racehorses and Greyhounds are.
On average more of them have the same traits.

I'm not slow. I'm getting $$$ to run d2! I'm just not as fast as Kenyans... I was wondering if it was just because they're Kenyan or if it's training too.

It's because they are Kenyan.

Yep, the Kenyans all have the same body type:

They have in the picture, just different height.
100m Olympic gold medalists are taller than the world average height. 800m Olympic gold medalists are slightly taller than world average height. 1500m Olympic gold medalists have an average height of about 5'9". Average height of Olympic gold medalists goes down from there. The average height of Marathon gold medalists is about 5'7". Since 1968 there have been numerous Kenyan gold medalists shorter than 5'9" racing 800m to Marathon. Running is the national sport in Kenya. If t&f were the national sport in USA, USA would produce far more very good runners.
