I started my season off at a small 10k with 7 competitors. My teammate and I were trying to break 33 in order to make conference. I ran 9:15 indoors yet so I'm good for a low 33 minimum. I ran 34 flat. Now I ran most of this race in no man's land going:
5:13, 5:20, 5:2x, 5:39, 5:30, 5:39.
I do my tempos around 5:30 so something clearly went wrong as I was very tied up and tight in the legs despite feeling fine aerobically.
So my question is...would the low temp be what caused the muscular tightness or did I suffer from running a race solo...or worst of all possibly misjudge my fitness.
