I have the Mizuno Wave Edkien 10 and they're not wide enough for my feet. My foot compresses to the outside of the shoe causing mild discomfort. I currently race anything from the half marathon to the 5k.

Bump
Streak Lt 3s are pretty freaking wide...

I have pancake flat wide fit and struggle with this. The streak LT3 are wide in the forefoot but they are sort of banana shaped and very narrow in the arch area so my foot feels like it is spilling over in the arch area.
Altra the one flats are wide but they are not a very responsive racing flat.
I am using a pair of New Balance 1500 flats and ordered 1/2 size up of my regular size. They are ok but a bit heavy for a racing flat.
Try a larger size.
Topo makes a racer with lots of forefoot room
Try Altra's The One 2.5. It's on the border between a racing flat and a super light trainer, but it has a great toe box.
As another mentioned, Topo is good, too. Try the Athletic Tribute.
The Altra is a tad more cushioned and the Topo is a bit more responsive. I like both for faster runs and races.

I would only recommend the Altras to people who like marshmallow-like cushioning. In my opinion, marshmallowy cushioning makes a shoe not suitable for racing, unless maybe you are an old-timer.
Not a true racing flat but New Balance makes the Zante and Vazee in both 2E and 4E. I raced a half in the Zantes and thought they were great though they might be a little heavy for 5-10k.

The One 2.5 by Altra is unavailable. Couldn't find any info if a 3.0 will be available. What about Saucony Type A?
Most Atras are marshmellowy, but not the 2.5. Just enough cushion.
The zero drop does take a little adjustment. 200 g on my kitchen scale in men's 10.5
That's terrible news they're already gone; the 3's are supposed to gain an ounce. They are wider than most in the toe box, but also shallower. I never had a big issue but they always felt odd when I put them on. Oh well, I've moved onto Ascics Hyperspeed 7, which to me have a little more cushion at only 185 g.
I have a pair of Altra Provision 2.5 which are regular trainers and they took some getting used to. I train in Brooks Pureflows about 80% the Altras about the other 20%. I've trained in Sauconys Kinvaras. I like the more minimal drops 4mm or less. As far as the racing flats I'm still trying to find the right shoe for my pancake duck feet. I'll look into the Ascics

I thought The One 2.5's were the most marchmallowy shoes I have ever owned. If it takes no effort to compress the foam by poking it with your finger, that's marshmallow.
I've been training in just flats since 200, so I've been through a fair amount of different brands. The widest toebox I found was the Brooks T7 Racer.
I'm not normally a Brooks wearer, but came across them and thought they were a good flat. But yeah, nice wide toebox - give them a shot.

Since 2000, not 200. I'm pretty old, but not quite there yet.

Relative to the Mizuno Ekiden the Brooks is narrow.

LT3 is a great very light shoe (153 g! in 10.5) but does not meet the wide toe box criteria.
Yeah i heard the streak LT is a good one too. I've never wore Nike for running ever, but willing to give it a shot. I did another race in the Edkiens, i put my orthotic in it to provide a wide platform and loosened the laces for more toe space. Worked out, but would like to try the Streak LTs
Nike Lunar Tempo 2 have a wide toe box. I require a wide toe box and just bought my first pair yesterday for $60 from my local Nike Outlet. Nike.com has them for $65. I would have bought Adidas Boston 6 for $70 on red tag clearance at Adidas Outlet but the shoes pinched the top of my big toes. Red tag items are buy one get a 2nd red tag item (any red tag item) for free so they would have been two pairs for $70 if they fit and it they have two in my size.

Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
