I'm brand new to running and all these terms are confusing me!! Does anyone have a 101?
A simple breakdown for you:
Hierarchy of efforts (greatest to least)

1. Race
2. Workout
3. Easy run
Workout: A hard effort done periodically during the week. Fartleks, track intervals, tempo runs are all workouts.
Fartlek: A continuous workout done in time intervals: Ex: 1 minute hard running, 1 minute jogging.
Tempo: A hard effort covering 2-10mi, typically at or slightly slower than your half marathon pace.
A run: An easy effort where you run comfortably without feeling undue exertion.
I'm here for the hobby jogger convention too
