Conference 5k indoors wrote:
I am running my first "indoor" 5k at conference this weekend coming back from an event on the previous day (just under 24 hours rest). I haven't ran a 5k since outdoor last year when I ran 15:10. What should I expect from a conference level indoor 5k where I am expected to probably score?
I personally think that you should expect to run exactly 25 laps of a 200m track. Given that you'll have an event in your legs from the previous day you should also expect to feel more tired than if you did not run said event. I would highly recommend putting one foot in front of the other in a "left, right, left, right" fashion to insure that the quarter of 100 laps you are going to cover are completed. Of course, you can always go with the "right, left, right, left" method, but I personally haven't had much experience with such a manner of leg movements.
You should also expect it to be on the conference level. Since you likely have access to the heat sheets, my guess is that you know more about this race than any of us do, and therefore probably know what to expect better than anyone who took time to read your post!
