My dentist is insisting I should get my wisdom teeth removed within the next 6 weeks. I am a semi-elite HSer and I really don't want this to interfere with my racing/training.
Any experiences with being able to run after removing wisdom teeth?

Yes. Relax. Get them pulled and take a little time off.
Taking a break is not the end of everything.
If anyone gives you grief, tell them to relax and post their concerns to this thread.
Ask to wait till summer. That's what I'm doing

I agree, I had mine out a few ekes after Xc missed over a week of running(basically have too no matter what because of blood clot possibilities), and it'll really hurt, not to mention if you have a small mouth and they have to cut into your cheek to get them out

I got my wisdom teeth pulled my senior year and was never the same again. Ended up sick. DON'T DO IT.
I was supposed to get them out at 17... I waited until i was 33.
Do it now or delay until summer. But don't wait years. Its a much quicker revovery when you're young.
You'll have to take a week off to fully recover... but a week off won't really affect your fitness. Is your indoor season over? Then I would do it now, before outdoor season really starts to pick up.
I wouldn't go to the doctor to get wisdom teeth removed prior to the season
Get a second opinion. You could lose a few days of training or it could knock you back 2 weeks. Dentists are like auto mechanics, in that they get paid for all the extra work. If you take a used car in and tell them to do fix every thing that needs work you will have a bill costing more than the actual value of the car.
If you can wait till summer, wait.
I've known people who've needed a solid two weeks off after getting wisdom teeth out and I've known people who were back running in three days. On average I'd say around 10 days off is the norm, especially if you want to play it safe--you don't want a blood clot coming out.
About a decade ago, the top girls runner on my high school team went on a hard 10-miler with the varsity guys (she was an elite HS athlete--I believe she ended up top 5 at FL Nats senior year) and right after we got back, she spent about 15 minutes puking/supporting herself on a trashcan/looking awful. We found out that she'd gotten her wisdom teeth out that morning. Don't do what she did--it did not look fun.
I just did it during spring break, took a few days off while chilling on oxy and watching TV, it wasn't too bad and I managed to get back to where I was in a few days.

That dentist is a hack. Get a new dentist and get them removed when track is over.
You can probably wait to get it done.
I had my teeth pushing my gums out in a weird way that caused a cut and infection. It hurt. I felt like I needed immediate wisdom teeth surgery. Except you can't get surgery while you have an infection. You need to take antibiotics, have it clear, and then get the surgery.
What's my point?
My point is there is rarely such thing as immediate wisdom teeth surgery required. That's because it's either so bad that they need to delay it for something to clear up or else nothing is immediately threatening and you can obviously wait. So it's like a funny thing where 99% of the time you can wait a few weeks to have it done.
Most dentist are hacks these days. Trying to sell you everything and anything. Faking cavities. Remember, they have to pay for their daughter's horseback riding lessons and his/her Tesla.
Wait till summer. I just did mine and I was pretty miserable for two weeks. Granted I'm almost 40 and probably should have not done it at all, but I doubt you want to take even a week off at this point of the year.
If your wisdom teeth are not bothering, then I would suggest you wait till summer and get them removed. It would be better if you take a second opinion.
I have undergone wisdom teeth removal from a clinic in Burlington (

). I took a week off but it did not affect my fitness. The healing time varies for each person so it would be better to discuss in detail with your dentist.
Wait until after track season, but don't put it off any longer (unless they are giving you pain now). Your dentist might simply be trying to get you in 6 weeks out because that is when his next opening is. Once the roots are fully developed, getting them out is a real chore (the recovery is longer because they will likely have to remove more bone to get them out). If any of them are impacted or if they have some crazy roots on them (they should be able to tell from x-rays) your recovery time will be longer, but if they are not impacted and the roots are only lightly formed or are nice and straight, they can often be taken out without any real surgery (which is why the dentist wants you in sooner rather than later).
Do it during Spring Break.
