Doesn't defense win championships?
Doesn't defense win championships?
Lot of uncontested dunks and 3s. Just a shoot around and show off basically. Glad I didn't bother tuning into all star weekend for any sport anymore. Except MLB when game decides World Series home field. It's all a big joke these days. Nba is the worst with fan voting/collusion.
It's just goofing around and showmanship for the fans. A lot of dunks and crazy long range jump shots. Might end up 200-190 or something...enjoy it as this is once a year gig ðŸ‘ðŸ€
All-star professionalsm 101: Don't get hurt.
All-star bro code: Don't risk injury to any of the other all-stars.
For the above two reasons, hard-nosed defense is out of the question.

Championships, yes. So what's your point?
Haven't watched the actual game for years (All-Star Saturday usually makes for better programming). Holy crap...it's worse than I remembered.
Good thing there were 4(!) nationally televised NHL games today.

The NHL now has maybe the most interesting one. They do a 3 on 3 (plus goalies) with each of the 4 divisions having a team. There are semifinals and finals games. While D is not there as much, the game is fun to watch and winning team splits $1 million (among 11 players) so gets a little serious at one point without the checking
bring back the 80s and early 90s. They put on a show and played defense.
Actually, baseball got rid of the all star winner gets World Series home field rule.
It is now going to better record.

Even without much defense, the goaltenders don't want to get embarrassed out there so you will get some spectacular saves out of it. 3 on 3 might be one of the best ideas the NHL has come up with (both in general and for the All-Star game).
It's so lame. And the 3 point contest is so stupid. No one is even guarding them. They should be able to make all of the shots if no one is guarding. And the dunk "contest". I counted at least 4 traveling violations. Are you really going to have drone carrying the ball in a real game. What's the point? The drone should have been called for palming. And they missed some dunks. Isn't that why you dunk, because it's a 100% shot? You don't win championships by doing fancy playground spinsy dunk things that you might miss.
I blame millennials and participation trophies and AAU and social media and video games.
