I am looking at the results from Conference USA.
Here are their best performances this season:
800m 1:54.2
Mile: 4:39.9
3000m: no performance
5000m: no performance
They scored a total of 5.5 points at Conference USA with one event to go.

Sorry, 20.5 points with one event to go
BTW: same for North Texas
800m: 1:56.7
Mile: 4:14.5
3000m: 8:31.5
5000m: no mark
22 points with one event to go
yup, both programs have quite a few 100% full athletic scholarship athletes.

??
So how does it go from " you need to run a sub 4:10 mile to get a scholarship"
To that...
It seems like anything under 4:30 will get you something/somewhere
Heck, you would be 10 seconds faster than the top FIU miler.
Those times wouldn't have even made an Eastern Bloc women's team during the 70s and 80s.

Why would FIU spend a penny on distance runners in a conference with Middle Tennessee and UTEP? That would be an absolute waste of money.

They pretty much don't have anybody that's any good. They finished the meet with 25.5 points
FIU in the house!!! Remember, these high school times were run in South Florida. Let me know if you have any questions.
I ran a 9:37 and got a full ride to FIU.
My brother ran 4:28 and got a full ride to FIU.
My sister ran 11:39 and got a full ride to FIU.
My brother-in-law ran 4:23 and got a full ride to FIU.
My best friend ran 4:25 and got a full ride to FIU.
And, by the way, there are dozens upon dozens of DI programs that score below 10 points in a conference championship.
So how fast are you...

Not trying to single them out (but I guess at that I did)
Just wondering why so many people say that running in division 1 and getting a scholarship is such an unattainable goal...
FIU and North Texas simply stuck out when I looked at the Conference USA results.
Getting a scholarship seems quite attainable after all.
Where is it the easiest to get a scholarship?
