Ritz or Mottram

Who will do better out of these two? I think right now Mottram is in better shape and is probably a better 5k runner than Ritz anyway.

Mottram by FAR, he's a sub 13 5k man and has challenged the Africans consistently over the past few years. Ritz, while a great prospect, is just that, a prospect not proven.

No offense to Ritz,(I think he is awesome)

I've got nothing but tons of respect and admiration for both these killer guys.

Does anyone think that Ritz will go sub-13 at Carlsbad?

I'm surprised to find the Mottram is only 24-years-old. I thought he was a bit older. All the talk of Ritz...when Mottram has ran 12:55.

how much slower are road races than track races? like a guy who could bust out consistant 13 flats might run....what at carlsbad?

Sammy Kipketer was a mid to low 12:50 5000m runner and ran really close to 13 flat, so probably 10 or so seconds slower for the top elites.

Hasn't done a thing? You're wrong, look at his fast 10k last year, for his first ever 10k that is pretty damn good, equivalent of 13:10 or so 5k I would say.

Equivalent, who cares about that. Ritz's has run 27.40ish and 13.20's. Mottram's has broken 13 minutes, so he is in a different class. The difference between 13.20's and sub 13 is huge and there's no denying this, just ask Mark Carroll

I'm still hoping for 13:23 and a new AR. Ritz is not in Mottram's league yet, but I think he could run with current AR holder Marc "Doc" Davis any day of the week.

Mottram is one of the greatest talents ever. He does not lose to Europeans or Africans ever.
