Not long ago, I tested my max heart rate at around 206 using a nice chest strap.
I just got a GPS watch with an optical heart rate measurement and thought I'd ditch the chest strap. It seems to be reasonably accurate when I'm running at a moderate pace, but any time I do hard intervals the rate often reads even slower than my moderate runs - it seems to have no accuracy whatsoever with faster running. Has this been the case with other people?
