I know what you mean, but does any NCAA champion really go to class?
For example, Cam Levins. If he was running upwards of 160 miles per week then we are talking approximately 20-23 miles daily(Even up to 36 miles in a day), divided between 2-3 runs. This would take over 2 possibly even 3-4 hours to do(if workout with recovery). Plus time getting ready for each run must take about half an hour for the two or three during the day. If he also goes to the gym for an hour daily for core, stretching, or physio, then you could add that. He would have to prep and make meals, and eat them as well, with that amount of high mileage, his metabolism would be very high, possibly 3 hours daily of eating and meal prep. He would have to shower and use the bathroom frequently due to them amount of food and water he would consume, I imagine 1 hour daily. If he has a girlfriend, friends, or facetimes with family he would most likely spend an hour of his time daily doing so. Doing 90-100 miles weekly I felt the need to take a mandatory nap daily, so I would guess a 1 hour nap. Plus at least 9 hours of sleep per night a mileage like that.
Plus the fatigue of doing high mileage at high altitude would make you almost permanently tired.
3.5 hours spent running
.5 hours preparing for runs(Getting dressed, finding clothes, driving somewhere to run, etc.)
1 hour in gym or trainer
3 hours eating or cooking
1 hour in bathroom(showering or using bathroom)
1.5 hour socializing
10 hours sleeping
=20.5 Hours
So he may have approx. 3.5 hours daily to study or go to class. In that time you could take 2 classes and study for a little.
So my question is, do any NCAA distance champions really go to class?
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
