I want to quit running and start lifting. Who is with me?
Good riddance
Yawn. Do both.
I didn't totally quit running, but dialed way back on the mileage.
I ran consistently 80+ miles/week for years. Hovered around 6'0 and 145 lbs.
Now I only run about 10-15 miles a week and hit the weights pretty frequently, as well as swim. Sitting around 180 lbs, which I think looks pretty good.
Running is still fun, which is why I could never totally give it up. But I'm way over the high mileage stuff. That started to feel like a chore after so long.
But seriously. I have gotten to the point, that I ask myself, why do I do this? Do people really enjoy running. I honestly never enjoyed a second of it, I only did it because I was good. Lets lift bros.
This happens to me usually at the end of a season. Mentally done with the grind and ready for a break. Start lifting and all gung-ho about it. Only takes a couple weeks to get sick of seeing the inside of the gym as your only workout place.
Hah. I'm old and slow. But I love every second of my runs.
This a boring thread.
Way ahead of you. I've already cut the sleeves off of all my t-shirts and purchased a year's supply of Whey Protein Mix. With a little hard work and determination, I'll be a complete douchebag in no time!
Is that you? Ryan Hall?
