Here I was thinking you need like 1:55 800m to get on the roster at most schools. That's on me I guess.
In contrast, cross country times seem way faster in D2 as opposed to D3. For instance, the NSIC had 24 kids under my school's record for the 8k.

You also don't need to be that good for d1 either.
Can we please stop with the D1vs2 and 3 myth? On an average the D1 runners are better/deeper, but there are plenty of D2 and 3 teams that can easily beat D1 teams

The best d2 teams couldn't make d1 nationals in xc or track.
That's not true at all. Look at Colorado School of Mines, Adams State, and Grand Valley, all three of these teams consistently beat D1 teams. All three would be on the bubble every year to make it to nationals.

Which has nothing to do with the point he was making.

A lot of d1 teams couldn't make d1 nationals in xc or track.
You really don't have to be that good at all to run in college as long as you aren't deadset at running at Stanford or Iona. So many high schoolers quit after 4 years because they don't think they have what it takes. Letsrun perpetuates that with all the what do you have to run to walk on at xxx university threads. There are tons of schools that never get letsrun mention that have coaches that could take someone who dedicates their time to the sport to nationals.
Yes. There are some very, very slow D2 runners and teams, just as there are in D3, D1, NAIA, etc.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
