Hey all,
I am hoping for some feedback. So I have been running since middle school - ran about 25 mpw in high school - ran around 20 flat consistently (girl). Ran in college - anywhere from 40-45 mpw - yes I was lazy. Ran in low 19s and high 18s 5k. I never really did long runs or tempos. My coaches did a lot of easy running and a lot of hill repeats and a lot of intervals like mile repeats. I am 30 now. 3ish years ago I started getting more serious with running and upping my mileage to 50-60 a week and doing long runs and progressions and all that. I have gotten faster - high 17s 5k now and a half in 1:25ish (trying to get down to 1:21). My question is how long does it take for your legs to not feel horrible on long runs. I can do a long run like 4 at 8 flats 4 at 730 and 4 at 7 and it is not that hard but doing 15 at like 830 is really hard for me to hold and it is just because my legs get so fatigued. Does your body get used to this over time? I know that fast finish long runs are good but I can't do them because of how tired my legs are.
Thanks
