Here's the story:
I'm 37, 5'9, 175 lbs. Down from 200 in April. Been running a rather hilly 5 mile neighborhood loop 5 or 6 days a week for three months now. Averaging around 7:40min/mile. I haven't been doing any weights or cross training, just running 25 - 30 miles per week.
There's a 5K Turkey Trot this November that I'll be doing with a few friends. Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations on any training I should start doing in October to help me get my best possible time. There is a high school track near me that's open to the public, so it's definitely an option.
I'm not even sure that I qualify as a hobby jogger at this point, so maybe I should just stick to what I've been doing and keep building a base? I have no background in track or cross country, but ran to stay in shape pretty much my whole life up until four years ago when I had a kid and started a new job and pretty much stopped exercising (thus the 25 pound weight gain).
Anyway, I'm not a troll, just a hobby jogger dad looking for advice on his first 5K.
