We've seen him close in races like the 2015 Doha 3000m in 1:52 low off a pretty quick tempo. If he was properly trained for the distance, could he run sub 1:45?

He'd probably go sub 2:07.

I don't think so.
You see, the very traits that enable him to run a fast 5K - one of the fastest all time - will make him a very poor sprinter.
800m is only one mark up from the 400m sprint, so he will be much slower.
You don't realize the amount of power, coordination, and anaerobic training required to run a 2:07. 2:07 takes a significant amount of talent, even though the posters on this forum are blinded by their environment.
The same way Bolt can't run a sub-5 mile, Gebrhiwet has no chance at 2:07 800m. It's the same logic, see the threads on Bolt sub-5. The extrapolation curves prove it definitively.
Maybe 2:10 if he trains with Rudisha for the better part of a year.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
