So after 5 years my Garmin 210 has died. Any recommendations from LRC for a GPS watch? I was pretty happy with the 210 as it worked well most of the time. Looking to spend a max of $350.

Yeah, I've been looking at the 235. I have heard the Garmin's that measure heart rate at the wrist do not give reliable HR measurements. Has that been you're experience? I'd love to get rid of the chest strap but don't hate it so much that I absolutely need to get rid of it. The HR aspect of these watches are honestly not my main concern though, so if the 235 is a solid watch otherwise that might work well for me.
235 heart rate is fine for steady runs, but it doesn't respond to instant changes very quickly. If you care about the data, you'll need something else for workouts. The scosche armband is much more comfortable than a chest strap, and it's always spot on.
I'd also consider the 225. It used mio tech for the heart rate sensor, and was much more reliable than Garmin's in house sensor. You miss out on activity tracking and smartphone notifications, but if you only wear it when working out, then who cares.
I have a Garmin Forerunner 230 with original packaging, just gently used (I've logged about 150 miles on it) I can sell to you for $180!! I won a gift card to a local running shop this summer and bought it on impulse because I didn't see anything else in there I liked. Money is tight now.... and I'm not training seriously enough to use it regularly. Would love to sell it to you! Reply if interested.
