This is my favorite shoe (along with the 1400), and I have run thousands of miles including six marathons in them.
Where can a person order them before they're all gone?
Don't tell me to get the Zante, either...

I hear ya. My first pair of 890 v3s is still performing well. The 890 v4 is okay, but they reduced the tread too much. I found that the revlite material is what makes these shoes so great. So trying the 3190 & 3190 v2 I've found a replacement.
They feel the same, but their durability is in question. My 3190 (v1) wore out after 400-500 miles. The tread doesn't have the ndurance rubber on the heel and forefoot areas. Plus the 890s have a second layer of mid shoe foam that's a bit stiffer and helps stability. The 3190s lack both of these. But at least I can continue running in comfort.
My next pair will be a NB shoe with both revlite & ndurance rubber. I'm sure of that now.
I've been searching for it for a while. the v3 was the GOAT shoe for anything except really fast workouts.
I switched to the Vazee Pace which works very well for me. A bit lighter and "faster", but still has a similar feel.
Check out the NB Vazee Pace. Similar formula as 890.
revlite midsole.
Thanks for the good tips on the 3190 and the Vazee Pace. I'll try those on.
Anyone know of an online seller with some 890s still on hand?

Vazee Pace doesn´t feel anywhere near like the 890. What I liked about the 890 was that they were very light and still very soft. I like being able to use a super light shoe for serious mileage. Pace is a lot firmer.
It's been replaced by the fresh foam boracay
When New Balance is trying to phase outs clothes, shoe models etc... they seem to go to here.

I've ordered from them before and they seem legit and super cheap. Looks like they have some 890's left over but I would get them now.
NB has FF Boracay V3s available - in widths, too. Mine showed up on Monday. Two short runs. Very nice. A lot like the V1. V2s weren't distributed in the US as you know. I talked to a NB rep in Vancouver back in May; he said they were coming back to the US and he was right. A little pricey, but these are good. 25/21 or 24/20 drop depending on who you listen to; ~ 9 oz.

Firmer and heavier.
Boracay is nothing like the 890, either. Also noticably firmer, especially in the heel.
Any suggestions for a replacement for the 980?
Saucony Zealot ISO or ISO 2. The v1 is firmer and runs true to size, while the 2nd is springy and runs about a half size short. You should be able to find some for cheap on runningwarehouse using FB15D coupon to get extra 15% off. You're welcome.
Anyone looking to replace the 890s should consider the Boston Boost from Adidas and Asics Dynaflyte.
The Boracay's are great,
Try the Vazee Rush v2
Anybody have any views on the rc1600?

Thanks.
The 890v3 is still the GOAT. I've run in everything. My wife found me a pair on ebay for Christmas. I don't care how old the shoe is. I've put in two runs and they feel as good as ever. I'm just going to keep them in the rotation with my v5's and 1400's so they last a long a time!
EBAY usually has some 890's... I would skip v4 completely...v5 is much better than v4, in my opinion. But neither are the v3.
New Balance - I love them. But they screwed this one up. Dropping their 8mm drop lightweight daily trainer from their line is a mistake.
Hoping we see something in the NBx series down the road that resembles this formula. Neutral. 8mm drop. RevLite. +/- 9 ounces.
the 1400v4 is plenty cushioned for tempo or long runs days, and that that has a similar feel to the 890v3, save for the obvious thinner forefoot.
v5 was also heavier than v4.
I know this is a very old post but has anyone checked out the New 890v6 shoes that the recently started making again? I was just wondering how they compare to the 890v3 shoes that we all loved from years past.

Wider than v3.
