After completing my senior year of high school, I chose to go to a school best for me academically but the chances of me running there were slim to none. I was training to walk-on throughout the summer until July I had a small foot injury and got discouraged. About mid August I got the hunger to get start up again. In high school I was running 60-70 mpw during xc season, 40 in the winter and 40-50 in track. However, I only ran one year of track due to 3 years of baseball before that. I had a lot of issues in my one year of track keeping up with the fast paces. I had no issues in the xc season running a 14 mile run at 6:40 pace. A 16:10 5k pr was only able to translate into a 4:40 mile on the track. What workouts can I do to improve my speed. So far I am going to the gym, where I lift and bike 4-5 times a week in addition to running. Any suggestion would help.
