I'm having a debate with a friend who is a cyclist. My friend says that you see immediate benefits from EPO and it's used primarily for that. The athletes take things like testosterone to help recovery.
Whereas, I always thought that the main purpose of EPO was that it speeds up recovery, thereby allowing someone to do more hard workouts in a shorter period of time and see greater gains. My friend argues that that's not true at all and it's an immediate boost, whereas other drugs are used for recovery.
So who is right here? And is there any science to back up either argument?
