I have a 5k coming up as sort of a season opener. My goal is under 18 min. Thats about a 5:45 pace.
I think i have an issue with starting out too fast, so I will usually run for example 2:40 for the first 800 of the 5k which is about 12 seconds to fast and then I feel tired and my race falls apart. Would it be better to start off closer to my goal pace or is there any benefit in starting hard?
Should I just start like a tempo run and speed up? Would it be better to ease into it like start with a 3 and speed up?
