How important is bone density to a high school runner? How can I improve my bone density if it is truly important? What other things do I need to be worried about while running 35-45 mpw?
1. It's A factor, but not the ONLY factor, in determining your stress fracture risk
2. Take a calcium vitamin D supplement
3. Don't lose your period if you are a girl
4. Play basketball or another ball sport for fun
5. Don't worry about anything really. As Randy Moss says, "35-45mpw ain't sh*t homie"
Think in terms of gradually improving any workouts that you do.
Easy recovery runs should be a big part of your program. "Todays run is to help me recover from yesterday's 8 X 80 sprints." YES, sprint one day per week!!!
You also need at least one recovery run after a long run. Less is usually better.
You can always do more later!
