I started running this month two years ago, I am 16 years old. When I started running my coach focused my training on building a base which I did for the entire first year. We did some speed sessions here and there but I was basically just doing base work. After my first year of running I ran my first 800m race in 2:07. Now we are a couple of months on and I am currently down to 2:03. The main reason I have not reduced my 800m PB lower is because I am also currently focusing on the 1500m for the Nationals. (I live in Ireland by the way) My PB for the 1500m is 4:09.
The main reason for my question is because tomorrow I have an 800m graded race in my club which my coach wants me to do in preparation for the national 1500m I have coming up next week. A lot of people think I may be able to break 2 minutes tomorrow but I am just not so sure. I feel ready and I really want to do it, it's just I feel as though I won't be able to stick the pace. Based on the information I have given what do you guys think? Thanks in advance!
