NY/NE open race. 2015.
After You race, you get to take all of the protein bars and Gatorade chews before you can watch all four of the champ races. I took home about 150 protein bars and probably north of 200 Gatorade chew packs this past year.
Do you mean last in the varsity race at the regional meet? In that case, I would definitely say first in the open race. For example, in the Southeast region last fall, the winner of the girl's open race was 5 minutes faster than the slowest runner in the varsity race.
If you mean last in the varsity race at nationals, I would take that one. I would likely be in the slowest runner on a team that qualified, which means no pressure but all of the perks of attending the meet.
Good point, the post was a bit confusing. I meant last in the NATIONAL Varsity race or first in the Regional Open Race.
If one or two people bonked at nats you can interpret the question to mean 3rd or 4th from last, ignore outliers like a 20:00 5k or someone that had an asthma attack or injury mid race.
assuming the national race vs open you are going to get gear in the non open one
