Is Brazier going pro? With who?
Rowland has said himself that he doesn't know if he will have a job after July.
So, any speculation about people going to OTC is probably false.
None of these pro coaches will lose their positions. Mackey and Rowlands have both said that, but they're too connected to lose their position and they always have someone doing well (maybe due to so many athletes).
Neither club will fold up, but wondering how much these COACHES are paid? Sweet gig!
Can anyone speculate on Brooks Beasts salaries? Seattle isn't cheap!
From what I have been hearing.
Murphy $150k w/ Nike at Akron for next year. Join OTC in 2018 (off year).
Donovan $200k w/Nike at Texas AM for next year. Join OTC in 2018 (off year)
Freriches $40k w/Nike and Bowerman
Yorks $30k w/Nike and Bowerman
Kidder $25k w/ Brooks Beasts (teammate Cas)
Futsum $25k w/ NAZ Elite
Hoover $15k w/ NAZ Elite
Gabe Gonzalez $20k w/Asics/Mammoth
Noelle $20k w/ Asics/Furman Elite
Wynne $25k w/ Brooks Beasts leaving Virginia early.
Ferlich $20k w/ OTC (Rowlands) or $30k w/ Boston NB (Coogan)
Coogan $20k w/Boston NB (dad)
After the very public Berian affair, I'm surprised so many are considering signing with Nike. Even if Cheserek gets 500k/year, he could get reduced to nothing for any year he is injured. Does a pro really want to be obligated to compete in 10 Diamond League races per year or get reduced? How many pros can even get invited to 10 Diamond League events in a season?
Another thing to consider is that many of these athletes sign these contracts because a shoe company will have bonus for making the Worlds/Olympic team and their base salary skyrockets to 6 figures. So athletes agree to these salaries as a way to stay in the sport thinking they'll cash in once they make the team which is what every elite says is their primary goal anyways.

So pro runners should get paid for not running? I don't understand why runners don't want to race. Some of them just want to train all day all year. Look at the other sports. Their athletes compete just about every game. Football, Basketball, baseball. And you're complaining about TEN races???
Says the guy who ran JV in high school.
10 Diamond League races a season or get reduced. Greater reduction if less than 8 Diamond League races. Very few athletes get invited to that many Diamond League events. The ones who don't, run in other various meets. No one said anything about not competing, you concocted that in your tiny brain.
Dude, you have no idea how difficult it is to get into even ONE Diamond League event.

I'd love to know how you got that info.
Please email me
robertjohnson@letsrun.comSeriously you fell for that? No way Wynne leaves Virginia for $25k a year.
Finally.

You're pretty spot on with most of these. Amazed you didn't take a shot at Cheserek's $500K/year+ with NOP after his 5th year at Oregon (red-shirting next year to finalize citizenship).
And Yorks is signing with Brooks, not Nike.
Woowee. I was really worried when it said Yorkz was signing with NIke. Although BTC isn't a bad choice. Didn't seem like a move he would make. For what it's worth heard he signed KimBall (kimba?) athletics, from a mutual friend. Although that guy seemed to think KimBall was a shoe company,,,so starting to question my own credibility from listening to guy who's credibility is questionable
The agents need to step up for the athletes and not accept a single contract with a reduction clause.
It's called NEGOTIATING.

Link to Rowland saying that? In an article? Or a video? What about for Mackey?
I know from first hand knowledge that the Beasts are not making a lot. 20-30k is probably what most of them make, excluding Symmonds obviously.

Because they pay more money
Each of your posts is dumber than the previous one.
And I am dumber for having read them
and NOP, Bowerman, OTC are 3 of best groups out there
You forget that base salary is only one component of a contract. There's a ton of 1 time bonuses for hitting times, places, wins, teams etc. There's also plenty of rollover bonuses which will up the value of the entire contract for the life of the contract. Then on top of that you can win prize money at many different races including things like milrose, road races, USAs, world relays, diamond leagues, random track miles etc etc. And if you're pretty good you can get appearance money. Plus, you usually get travel, an extra stipend, gear budget, physio/massage/medical taken care of.

Kimbia Athletics.
Most respected agents in the biz, Tom Ratcliffe is a great guy.
They do right by their athletes

This is the problem with the sport. Who said shoe companies, especially Nike, get to dictate what athletes earn? We are in a worldwide sport with greater opportunities than ever for athletes to be walking, talking, competing billboards and offer greater global marketing than any sport. Agents running to Nike every time they sign an athlete is 90% of the problem and just being lazy.
Athletes are being sold short every year because the agents are too lazy to think outside the box. Only a few athletes have meaningful deals that could sustain them a lifetime and going to a shoe company isn't the answer. I'm not saying don't get one I'm just suggesting that a shoe deal should reflect 20-30% of an athletes endorsements.
You are not presenting a very good argument. Why would any company pay more than the shoe companies to have t/f athletes endorse their brand? In terms of the general public, nobody watches track and field. To me, it's a wonder to shoe companies even get any return at all on the small amount they do invest in pro t/f athletes.
The only thing that matters in these deals is BARGAINING POWER. Can an athlete say 'I want 100k because I can definitely get that somewhere other than a shoe company'? No way. Athletes are only worth what anybody is willing to pay them. And right now that is not very much.

It's kind of like punk rock/indie bands who work hard with small labels for a few years, gain a following, and then a major label wants to come in and swoop them up. Precious few will do well enough to still be able to call their own shots with the major label (Nike, in this analogy), but lots of them can't seem to resist the opportunity to try and cash in and be big stars, even if they could stay with a mid-sized label, make a decent living and retain control of their work.
These days it seems the only excuse to sign with Nike is if you want to train with Bowerman. Everyone else should know better.
