How much slower is a 5k road race during rainy weather?
How much slower is a 5k road race during rainy weather?
Was it at altitude, what kind of surface was it on, were there a lot of sharp turns? you can easily take about 3 min off of a 5k.

Depends how bad the rain was. If it was cool and really light I would say it might be more favorable conditions for those who excel at cooler weather. If the rain was hard enough to make your shoes soaked and stomping puddles everywhere then, yeah it would slow you down. different strokes for different folks. Personally I have better runs in a light rain.

I agree completely.
The race was on asphalt. Here is a picture from the race that shows the conditions
My racing flats were soaked from the start.The course had a lot of sharp turns and the elevation gain/loss was 22 m. Minimim elev was 40 m and maximim elvation was 61 m.

You can post on FB that you're 23 min 5k is equivalent to a sub-20 on a normal course and with good weather. And around 19 flat on track.

It may be more around the 18:15 range on the track, but if you had comp you may be able to run under 17:30
