I'm preparing for a 5K race next Sunday, just did a 5K simulate last night for 19:40 which is also my 5K PB set last year in the same event. My avg heart rate for the 5K simulation is 171, final 50m it goes up to 181, and I guess my max is around 184.
My weekly mileage is only about 15 miles with one interval and one tempo, but I also spent 6 hours weekly on cycling training.
Is 19:10 at 6:10/mile realistic for me? According to my feel during the 5K simulation, I think I could go a little faster, but not sure if I should also monitor my heart rate during race to adjust the pace?
Any additional advice is welcome, thanks!
