The movie I spent all summer writing and the last 4 months pitching to Hollywood is called "A Lover's Brunch."
It's about this group of guys, all slightly pudgy, below average looks but with fratty tendencies like pink shorts and wayfarers, who come from money and run the NYC brunch scene. They're known as "The Brunchmen." They eventually become friends with these 26-29 year old quasi professional women who also come from money. One chick, Melissa, is a social media representative at a start up living the Village. However, the start up goes under and she's jobless.
Her well connected father hooks her up with an interview with a Senator. Her father gave her an ultimatum that if she doesn't land this job, he won't pay for her apartment. At the interview, the Senator said that he would like to visit her at her apartment and would like her to prepare a brunch with important people. She accepted the proposition.
One problem. She went to her father for some money for the brunch and he would only give her $20k. Now with a limited budget, her brunch would surely be a dud. But one of "The Brunchmen," a guy named James Lovers-Brunch, offered to help her prepare the brunch.
While preparing for the brunch, they started to fall in love. Would this love between Melissa and Jimmy Lovers-Brunch survive? Would the brunch live up to the Senator's demands? Would it be "A Lover's Brunch?" Well I guess we'll never know because my script wasn't picked up.
