Erik Sowinski probably won the World challenge in Beijing in 1:45:81!
Chased Kipyegon Bett al the way to the line.
Still waiting for official confirmation about time and who won.

awesome! I really like that guy. he's got to be one of our most consistent 800 guys out there.
Bett given the win. Both he and Sowinski clocked 1:45:80.

Him and Solomon tend to be fairly consistent, they rarely blow up (except USA's last year of course).
Loxsom and Symmonds are probably the most inconsistent.
Symmonds consistently makes teams which is most important.
no
Sowinski has raced a ton both indoors and out this year. Not sure it will help him make the team (I was glad to see him barely make World Indoors).

Did anyone watch this meet in the US? What channel was it on. It's my job to follow this sport and it's impossible for me to keep track of it all.
It has been suggested on this board that Sowinski has a contract with a low base pay but a lot of performance based provisions. If you couple that thought with the fact prize money is only earned when you race you wind up with an athlete who has to get invitations to meets to earn a living. Being one of the top three or four 800 runners in America is not the way to vast wealth and riches. There are 17 athletes that have the Rio mark so it's a crowded field to stand out in when meet directors look for an American to give a lane to. Erik stays in view by running and posting good results. As said he is consistent and he is not afraid to race up near the front. Meet directors like guys who are not afraid to mix it up at the head of the race.
I have no idea what he makes but this idea of an contract where the sponsor gives a bonus for getting invites to meets is at least plausible. Yes the early season Asian swing is a grind but it puts bucks in his pocket.

You might think about hiring someone to pay attention to the TV/Radio/internet offerings. I know it is a drag to spend money to get information on the various TV/internet offerings but if you are too time constrained to do it yourself it may be the only way to access the info. Perhaps an athlete in need of more sponsorship dollars would be willing to earn some money being your media research assistant.

32 American women have an Olympic quality time I'm sure one of them would jump at the chance to earn a couple hundred dollars.
Approach one of your advertisers with a bigger staff than you have with a deal to give them a frontpage type BillyClub Barbells Guide to T&F Broadcasts box or even just a sticky link on the top of the board
It can only bring traffic to the site and the sponsors site if you just link it.
It is kn bein sports right now (so you can watch it whenever you want on sling)
Just watched 800. Symmonds was with sowinski for first lap and then dies. Looked like sowinski won to me but what do i know
Sowinski's really bright from what I've heard. Putting med-school on hold type of guy. Can anyone confirm this? If so, I like to see guys like this do well. I mean he has options but decided to see what he could do before cashing in on them.

Maybe spend less time trolling the marriage and relationship threads and criticizing opinions of people who actually watch the sport?
Pretty sure he still puts in some hours at the Running Wild shoe store in Iowa City.
