Hello All,
This is my first post. Thanks in advance for your time.
I started training for my first marathon about 3 months ago. I was a little too ambitious on several of my long run days, and used some old shoes for a little too long. Since then I have experienced a dull aching on both sides of my inner thigh. It increases and decreases in intensity but it is never worse than mild (1 or 2 on a 0-10) scale. It sometimes disappears completely.
The only time I notice it aside from running is when I do squats, squeeze my knees together, or sometimes when I get out of bed in the morning.
Another strange thing that I noticed is that it seems to be much improved on days following an ab/core strengthening workout. IE, I usually notice a very mild soreness in the morning when I get out of bed. Not so on a day after I do a core workout.
My chiropractor says to continue my core workouts and to strengthen my hip muscles. I haven't discussed with my doctor yet because she has a history of recommending unnecessary and invasive procedures (it's a long story and, yes, I know that I need to find a new doctor).
Please advise. I'm really hoping that I can continue my training as long as the discomfort is so mild, but I also don't want to aggravate the problem any further. For what it's worth, it's been 3 months with no increase or decrease in discomfort. There are days when the pain is better or absent, but overall it is about the same.
