So I took my new shorts out for a run this afternoon. They are the new pink Van Cortland short from Tracksmith. Great shorts, but they are fairly short and they are pink. I am a male.
I know that pink shorts are kind of girly, but I figured I could pull them off. I was wrong. It was hot so I shed my shirt early in the run and was finishing up on a pretty busy road. A car came by and yelled something at me and I just ignored them. I knew it was going to get bad once they did a u-turn in the middle of traffic and gunned their engine past me going the other direction. I figured they would pass again and say something else, likely about my shorts. I was wrong. I heard them coming up behind me but I just told myself to remain calm and ignore them. There was traffic on the road and I figured they wouldn't do anything other than yell. They drove within inches of me and hurled beer bottles at me. One hit near my feet and a piece of glass went into my eye. I can see just fine, but there is a big red mark on the white part of my eye. I am about to head to the ophthalmologist to have it checked out.
Needless to say, I think I'll keep the pink shorts for the track or maybe a race. Not running through downtown on my way to/from the office.
Before you say bad things about the shorts, I have to say that they are super comfortable and I will buy some more of them (not pink though).
