Hi,
Tonight I will be racing my first 10k on the track. I've never ran a race farther than a 5k, and I'm really worried. I have absolutely no idea how to race a 10k...I would appreciate honestly any advice.

"I've never RUN a race..."
I have run.
I ran.
I had run.
Were you this paranoid when you raced your first mile? or 2 mile? or 5k? Probably not.
It is a race just like any other. You must have an idea of what kind of shape you are in. Go race man.
Take it out really hard in the first mile then try to hold on FTW.
Just be conservative for a while and then start to push.
best 10k advice any coach ever gave me:"If you feel like sh*t in the first 2 miles, you're screwed."

Low simple.
Go out hard for the first 200m (just like the 5K, but not AS hard). Then immediately settle into a pace that feels hard but manageable. Maintain this pace until the last 1-2 miles, at which point throw everything you have into it.
Let me compare to the 5K for reference:
First 200m (similar to 5K, only slower)
First 3KM (roughly similar to the first mile of the 5K)
Second 3KM (no comparison in the 5K, as you should NOT be hurting but cruising)
Third 3KM (similar to the 2nd mile of the 5K)
Final 1KM (similar to the final lap of a mile)
