A few tips:
Supplement with Vitamins D and B-12, and take an algae-based EPA and DHA supplement. Be aware that besides soy, plant protein is significantly less bioavailable than animal protein on average, so maintaining muscle mass can be difficult for some.

Why is it ethically right to kill plants to eat them?
Thank you for the advice of Supplements.
They don't have a heart, brain, 2 eyes and a nervous system.

Carrots have feelings too!
How many other runners are Whole Foods Plant Based.
I'm eating a vegan diet. Mostly whole foods, but a fair amount of protein/nut bars and kashi cereal, etc due to lack of options at times (university dining halls aren't always the best).
It's summer time here, man I love grilling steaks, chops, hamburgers and hotdogs on the grill. Expecially after a hard run with a beer.
I do give a fk, lifes short, enjoy it.
Animals have always fed off of other animals, since life evolved the capability. People are animals. Giving a f@ck means taking care of yourself first, then tend to the problems at hand. There are too many of us because of the subsidizing of population with grains and other crops, but one day that will all change back to the rightful balance. If you want true ethical high ground, grow it all yourself.
Enjoy your moobs and cruelty-free $10 lattes while you can.

Like people telling you running is expensive because you need compression tights, a 500 dollars watch, a gore-tex vest and 150 dollars shoes...
A tasty, balanced vegan diet is actually bloody cheap. You don't need overprised trendy processed soy bullshit. Actually you don't need soy at all.

AGREED. I DON'T WANT A HOT DOG MADE OF SOY BEANS. I WANT A HOT DOG THAT HOMER SIMPSON WOULD EAT - PIG SCROTUM AND ALL.
Tips - what university do you attend? At least what region of US?
To IDGAF - eat like you give a Fck means eat like you care about things other than yourself. Care about health, care about sustainability of the human race, care about climate change, care about other species surviving.
Meat is for P*ssy's who don't give a Fck.
The trends are too easy to follow. Read a book or even watch a documentary if you are too lazy. I recommend CowSpiracy, free on Netflix.

The reason animal agriculture is so bad is because the world is overpopulated. The problem is moztbut not all need to stop having kids, but who gets todecide who gets to reproduce. Not reproducing is contraryto evolutionary instincts butthose instincts combined with human intelligence will destroy the world.
The reason I gave up on 15 years of vegetarianism was because of the profound ill effects of a high-carb diet on my health. When the choice is eating a more balanced diet or hospitalization, then you should make the decision that keeps you healthy. If you are among the few who are genuinely carb-tolerant, consider yourself fortunate to be able to function well off of rice and beans. I could not.
That said, I probably consume more fresh produce than 90% of vegans, in addition to grass-fed meat and high-omega 3 eggs.
Going one year without using paper saves 8.5 trees. Going one year without eating beef saves 3,462 trees.

I watched another documentary also it was about how much your mom liked meat.

That means that plants cannot run away from the threat of being chopped down, so they are defenseless. At least animals can sometimes run away, unless they are too stupid (i.e., the dodo bird).
To the OP-I'm in New England. I use this name as my "anonymous" account to maintain a semblance of credibility (though I already disclosed that I'm in my early 20's, damn...).

I'm in a similar boat, but I can tolerate eating a high-carb diet fairly well, especially when I'm training hard and often.
I've been considering this:
The main gripe I have with consuming meat (and the ethical portion of why I've been a vegan for a while now) is with breeding animals for the purpose of useless slaughter, and the environmental problems stemming from it. I do not, however, share the ethical beliefs of a lot of vegans. If I had the means to catch and cook up salmon, I'd do it. I'd pay someone to do it for me in a sustainable way It's tasty and healthy in moderate amounts. Would I eat eggs that I know came from a few chickens my neighbor owned and cared for? Yep. They're tasty, help maintain muscle, and dietary saturated fat helps with production of testosterone in moderate amounts.
Right now, though, I've been thinking about how an all-or-nothing mindset regarding animal foods is truly healthy, or more of a way of socially justifying a choice to eat healthier. Ethical veganism is one thing (i.e. being against causing animal death even in light of potential health benefits), but it seems to me that being a mindfully-sourcing occasional meat eater on a plant-based diet is healthier for most people and relatively helpful regarding the problem of large-scale factory farming. Responses welcome.
